Junior Library Guild

The Junior Library Guild (JLG) Edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is a lesser-known but collectible version of the book. The Junior Library Guild is a subscription service that provides preselected books to schools and libraries. Their editions are often first printings, making them desirable among collectors.
Key Features of the JLG Edition:
   •    Identical Text & Cover Design: The book itself looks very similar to the standard first edition hardcover published by Scholastic in 1998.
   •    No Price on the Dust Jacket: Unlike retail copies, JLG editions typically omit the price from the front flap of the dust jacket.
   •    Junior Library Guild Branding: Some copies may have a small JLG sticker or a printed mark inside indicating it was part of their distribution.
   •    First Edition Status: Many JLG copies are technically first editions, but they are not considered true first prints by collectors because they were part of a special distribution rather than the standard trade release.

Value & Collectibility
JLG editions are not as valuable as a true 1st edition, 1st printing of Sorcerer’s Stone, but they still hold some appeal among collectors.
